My Arrival in Barcelona

Friday, February 1, 2008

Well, I finally made it. After a flight from Portland to Seattle, 3 1/2 hours in the Seattle Airport (where I enjoyed my very last peppermint mocha from Seattle's Best Coffee), followed by an approximately 8 hour flight to London. This is where my trip got interesting. I arrived into the London Heathrow airport, did lots and lots of walking, took a bus to another terminal, went through security AGAIN, so I had to put all my liquids back into the stupid plastic baggy. Once I got through security and to my correct terminal, I checked the departures board only to find that my flight had been cancelled. I waited in line, got on another flight. I finally met up with Meghan and Sasha around 2:45, after our original flight would have left. Our flight was then delayed, and we didn't know the gate number until boarding time, along with all the other passengers.

We finally arrived in Barcelona, around 9:30ish, took a bus from the airport to a train, and train to the metro where Meghan's sister and her roommate met us. Let me tell you, it is an interesting thing carrying that much luggage with you. We got to our hotel, dropped off our luggage, cleaned up and went out for some dinner and walking around the town. It looks like a very interesting city, and we are on a main street which is nice. Being here makes me realize how little I remember of Spanish though, which makes me feel even more like a tourist.

Tomorrow we will get to see more landmarks of Barcelona, experience more Spanish food, and most importantly, my first European coffee in 2 1/2 years.....

Ciao for now,

Lisa
